Ann Veronica Janssens’ artistic practice could be defined as research based on the sensory experience of reality. Through various types of devices (installations, projections, immersive environments, urban interventions, sculptures), Ann Veronica Janssens invites the viewer to cross the threshold of a new sensitive space, at the limits of vertigo and dazzle. In a register inspired by cognitive processes (perception, sensation, memory, representation), her works tend towards a certain minimalism, emphasizing the fugitive, ephemeral or fragile nature of the propositions to which she invites us. Spatialization and diffusion of light, radiation of color, stroboscopic impulses, artificial fogs, reflective or diaphanous surfaces are all means allowing her to reveal the instability of our perception of time and space. The properties of materials (brilliance, lightness, transparency, fluidity) or physical phenomena (reflection, refraction, perspective, balance, waves) are rigorously questioned here in their capacity to shake the very notion of materiality.
